Cloud delivery for software companies

Your software has already proven itself. Now transform how you deliver it.

Vela Cloud™ helps established software companies deliver their proven Windows applications as a professionally managed cloud service. You meet changing customer expectations and open a new recurring-revenue line — without the cost and disruption of a complete SaaS rewrite.

Getting started is easy, and there’s no capital expense outlay. We don’t make money until you do. Vela Cloud earns only when your cloud offering is billing your customers.

How a Windows application reaches customers through Vela CloudYour Windows application sits at the top. Below it, the Vela Cloud managed delivery platform provides security, backups, access and support. Beneath that, a distribution bus connects the application to four customer device types — PC, Mac, tablet and phone.Your Windows applicationManaged cloud delivery platformSecurityBackupsAccessSupportPCMacTabletPhoneYour customers — wherever they work

The situation

Your customers want the cloud. That doesn’t mean a rewrite.

Meeting that demand shouldn’t require rebuilding a proven application as browser-native SaaS. Vela Cloud delivers the software you already have as a managed cloud service — the shorter path below.

Two routes from a proven Windows application to a cloud businessA race between two routes to the same destination. Path A, a complete SaaS rewrite, is the long route through re-architecture, rebuilding, reaching feature parity and migration, requiring years of development, significant cost and a diverted roadmap. Path B, Vela Cloud, is the short route through assessment, deployment and ongoing operation, delivering the existing application as a managed cloud service reached from a browser. Path B reaches the shared destination and lights it up while Path A is still only partway through rebuilding.Your applicationProven · todayRe-architectRebuildFeature parityMigratePath A — complete SaaS rewriteYears of development · significant cost · roadmap diverted · execution riskPath B — Vela CloudYour existing application, delivered as a managed cloud service andreached from a browser — see it running in a few short weeks.AssessDeployOperateCloud businessRecurring · scalable

The model

You run the business. Vela Cloud becomes the cloud division you don’t have to build.

An extension of your team, running the infrastructure, operations and support your software depends on — so you stay focused on the product, the roadmap and the customers.

Your business

You own, develop, price, market, and sell your software. Your customer relationships and contracts are yours. Nothing about how you run the business changes.

Your customers

They see your software, your brand, your company. A professionally managed cloud service, delivered under your name.

Vela Cloud

Your in-house cloud division. We run the environment your application depends on, as an extension of your team. CPU, memory and storage scale in real time as your customers need them — at no additional cost to you unless you approve making the increase permanent.

Outcomes

Cloud delivery is a business decision, not an infrastructure project.

The reason to move is commercial. The infrastructure is simply how it gets done.

Create a recurring revenue opportunity

Add managed cloud delivery alongside your existing licensing and create an additional recurring revenue opportunity as customers adopt the service.

Try it in weeks, not years

A rewrite runs for years before anyone can use it. With Vela Cloud you are typically working in your own application within a couple of weeks — at no cost, and before you commit to anything. Application complexity and customer requirements set the pace.

Start without capital investment

There is no upfront outlay to stand your cloud offering up. Vela Cloud earns only once that offering is billing your customers, so our return depends on yours.

Hand off the infrastructure burden

Hand the cloud layer to a team that operates it every day, and keep your engineers on the product.

Support your customers without growing your desk

Your customers reach a live, US-based support desk — 5 AM to 5 PM Pacific — for whatever stops them working: cloud access, local network and workstation trouble, printers and scanners. Most calls end there. Only questions about your application itself reach your team.

Take it to market with support behind you

Positioning a cloud offering, pricing it and selling it into your existing base is new ground for most software companies. Vela Cloud works alongside your marketing and sales effort.

Common questions

What you’ll want to know before you move.

Do we have to rewrite our software to use Vela Cloud?

No. That is the point of the platform. Vela Cloud is designed specifically so that established Windows applications can be delivered as cloud services without being rebuilt as browser-native SaaS. Your existing application runs in a professionally managed cloud environment operated by Vela Cloud.

Does the ISV continue to own and control its software?

Yes. You continue to own, develop, market, sell and support your application. You set the roadmap and the pricing, and you keep the customer relationship. Vela Cloud operates the cloud layer that delivers your software. Nothing about ownership or control changes.

Will Vela Cloud ever sell to our customers?

No. Vela Cloud contracts with you, not with the businesses that license your software. When you ask us to support your customers we do it under your brand — they are never marketed to, sold to, or invoiced by Vela Cloud.

Is Vela Cloud the same as hosting our application on AWS or Azure?

No. Raw infrastructure is one component of a cloud offering, not the offering itself. Vela Cloud provides the operating layer around it: Windows application delivery, data hosting, backups, security, user administration, customer onboarding and offboarding, printing, scanning and peripheral support, integrations, US-based technical support, and escalation into your team.

Put differently: a cloud provider gives you servers. Vela Cloud gives you a cloud service you can sell.

Let’s talk

Your Windows application doesn’t need a full SaaS rewrite to have a cloud future.
