How Vela Cloud works.

A structured path from an established Windows application to a professionally operated cloud service — without rewriting the software.

The process

From first conversation to ongoing operation.

Every engagement starts by understanding the application, not by proposing infrastructure. The stages below describe the shape of the work.

  1. 01

    Discovery and application assessment

We look at how your application is built, what it depends on, how your customers use it, and what a cloud delivery model would need to support.

  2. 02

    Cloud architecture

The environment is designed around your application’s actual requirements — databases, peripherals, integrations, access patterns and growth expectations.

  3. 03

    Migration

Your application and its supporting components are established in the managed environment, with a plan that accounts for your existing customers.

  4. 04

    Testing and validation

The environment is validated against real workflows, including printing, scanning and the integrations your customers depend on.

  5. 05

    Deployment

The cloud offering goes live, presented to customers under your branding where you choose.

  6. 06

    Customer onboarding

Your customers are moved into the service with a defined onboarding process, and offboarded cleanly when required.

  7. 07

    Ongoing management

Vela operates the environment day to day — patching, monitoring, backups, security and access administration.

  8. 08

    Support

Support for the cloud environment your customers work in, with a direct escalation path back into your team.

  9. 09

    Scaling

The delivery model grows with your customer base rather than being rebuilt as you add customers.

Division of responsibility

Who owns what.

The boundary is deliberately clear. It is the part most software companies want settled before anything else.

  • ISVYour applicationDevelopment, releases, features and the product roadmap remain entirely yours.
  • ISVYour customersYou keep the commercial relationship, the pricing and the brand.
  • VELAThe cloud environmentInfrastructure, Windows environments, delivery, security and backups.
  • VELADay-to-day operationMonitoring, access management, support and customer onboarding.

This page is a framework for the full process narrative. Detailed content for each stage — including assessment criteria, architecture approach and service levels — will be developed with Vela’s marketing consultant.

Common questions

Questions about how it works.

How long does it take to move an application to Vela Cloud?

Timelines depend on the application, its dependencies and the size of the customer base. The assessment stage exists specifically to answer this question for your product before any commitment is made.

Do our customers have to change how they use the software?

The intent is that the application behaves the way your customers already expect, including the peripherals and integrations they rely on. Access changes; the software they know does not.

Who supports our customers once the service is live?

Vela supports the cloud environment your customers work in and escalates application-level matters to your team through an agreed path. The split is defined during onboarding.

Let’s talk

Start with an assessment of your application.

The first conversation is about your software and your customers — not a proposal.

A conversation, not a sales process
